Honolulu Habitat's Seventh Annual Build-a-Thon!

What is a Build-a-Thon?

The Hawaii Habitat for Humanity Build-a-Thon is a public awareness and fund raising event on behalf of Honolulu Habitat for Humanity.  The Build-a-thon provides an opportunity for Habitat supporters to raise money and help build homes with people in need. All funds generated by Honolulu Habitat will support our efforts to eliminate substandard housing on Oahu and remain on Oahu.

How do I get involved?

This year the Build-A-Thon is at our build site in Waialua.  We will be working September 10th & 11th, which is the National Day of Remembrance and Service.  There will be two shifts per day, morning and afternoon.  Two teams of ten will work side by side each shift.  For a pledge form or brochure, please contact our Development Director, Maile Alau at 538-7070.

Central Pacific Bank Adopts-A-Day at Waialua Work Site

On July 31 Central Pacific Bank took over our new work site in Waialua by offsetting construction costs for the day and providing a full staff of volunteer labor.  If you would like to learn more about our Adopt-A-Day program please contact us at 538-7070.

First ever Habitat build in Waialua underway!

James and Tamako Vasconcellos have lived in their old home for 50 years raising all four of their children.  It will soon be torn down to make room for a simple, decent two-bedroom house.  The current structure "is so old and termite infested.  It's falling apart," says Tamako.  The new one will be "easier to maintain" and will be perfect for family gatherings, especially for their seven grandchildren!
